9Library: Complete Library Management Software (Admin App + Student App + Mini Website)
9Library is a software service for owners of study libraries and self-study centres in India. Library owners use 9Library Admin (Android app and web app at admin.9lib.in). Their students use the free 9Library Student app (student.9lib.in and Android). Every library also gets its own mini website for seat booking. 9Library only provides the software. The library owner enters all student data and collects student fees directly.
Dashboard and screen modes
- Three screen modes: Auto (detects your screen size), Mobile and Desktop. You can switch manually any time. Desktop mode gives a wider layout for tablets and computers, in the browser or in the Android app.
- Dashboard cards: Total Seats, Occupied, Available, Total Students, Paid Students and Unpaid Students.
- Income today and this month, expense today and this month, with trend graphs and monthly net profit.
- Light mode and Dark mode.
1. Seat management
- Create up to 1000 seats. Add one seat or a range (for example A1 to A30, or 1 to 1000).
- Floor-wise interactive seat map. Give each seat your own custom name.
- Seat types: with locker and without locker.
- Shifts: Full Day, Morning and Evening, with automatic checks so two students cannot clash on the same seat and shift.
- Live view of free and occupied seats, with quick filters: All Seats, Available, Occupied, Free Morning and Free Evening.
- Rename a seat any time and add an optional custom alias, for example Silent Zone.
2. Booking requests and mini website
- Every library owner gets a mini website (public booking page) with a shareable link. Share it on WhatsApp, Instagram or Facebook.
- Visitors see library name, photos, facilities, prices and free seats, and send a seat request after email OTP verification. No app download needed.
- Requests also arrive from the Student app. The owner reviews and accepts with one click, and the student profile is created.
- Live Preview of your mini website before sharing.
- New seat requests show up live inside the app with no refresh needed. Accept or reject with one click.
3. Student records
- Profile photo (DP), name, phone, email, father name and phone, address, exam being prepared for.
- Optional ID upload such as Aadhaar. A seat can be booked without it. The ID is kept in a separate Identity Documents section for the library owner and is not used as the profile photo.
- Add extra documents with your own names, depending on what your library needs.
- Add students manually, from the Student app, from the mini website, or in bulk with a CSV file (template provided).
- Student history and payment ledger per student.
- Ex-Students: view past students and their details after they leave.
- Target exam with suggestions, start date and gender can be saved for every student.
4. Fees and payments (recording)
- Create your own plans with names and prices, plus default price, locker add-on, one-time admission fee and grace period.
- Pending, advance and discount tracking per student. Discount can be a fixed amount or a percentage, and past dues and the one-time admission fee are added when you book.
- Record payments by Cash, Google Pay, PhonePe or Bank Transfer, with UTR numbers for accurate tracking. When you enter a UTR, the app checks that it is exactly 12 digits and asks you to confirm it. You can search any payment later by UTR.
- Paid Members list: who has paid and is active.
- Unpaid Members list: who has pending fee, and how much.
- Fee cycle expiring soon list (students whose fee cycle ends within 3 days). Send a renewal alert as an in-app notification to the Student app, or as a ready message by WhatsApp or SMS.
- Fee reminders three ways: send an official reminder as an in-app notification straight to the Student app, or open a ready message in WhatsApp or in your SMS app (for these two you press send yourself). You can also call or WhatsApp a student directly.
- Custom Alerts: write your own message for students with pending fees or an expiring fee cycle and send it as an in-app notification, WhatsApp or SMS.
5. Cashbook and receipts
- Cashbook with Inflow and Outflow tabs, search by name, seat, UTR or transaction ID, and filters by month, year, custom date range or all time. You can also filter by payment method: Cash, Google Pay, PhonePe or Bank Transfer.
- For every receipt: view it, download or print it, share the PDF on WhatsApp, or send it to the student's Student app.
6. Expenses and extra income
- Add expenses such as electricity or other bills, with categories and notes.
- Add custom revenue that is not student fees, for example tea or coffee sales.
- Quick Actions in Workspace Tools: Download Report for your CA (PDF or Excel-compatible CSV, up to 12 months), Add Expense and Admin Note, a private note you can write for each month.
7. Analytics and performance
- Dashboard with students, revenue, pending fees and occupancy.
- View analytics by month, year or custom dates.
- Peak Admission Month, revenue and expense split by category, and comparison with the previous period.
- Insights: best performing period, average daily revenue, expense ratio and profit margin.
- Performance leaderboard: Top 5 seats that earned the most and Bottom 5 seats that earned the least, so you can see where the problem is.
8. Attendance and live monitoring
- QR code attendance. Students check in and out by scanning the library QR code. Location and nearby Wi-Fi are used to confirm they are inside.
- Multi-zone QR: create up to 5 QR codes, for example Main Gate, 1st Floor and 2nd Floor. A student can scan any of your active zones.
- Each QR can be tied to up to 3 of your router Wi-Fi identifiers (BSSID) on the Android app, and to your library internet connection (IP address) on the web, so check-in is verified against your own network.
- QR codes can be revoked: if you delete a zone and generate a new QR, the old QR code stops working for attendance.
- Print a ready QR poster to put up in your library.
- Live attendance: see who is inside now, with check-in and check-out times.
- Monthly report saved for each student: check-in and check-out times, hours studied each day, present days, absent days and the total for the month.
- Data screens update live, so you see changes as they happen.
9. Communication and notifications
- Message students inside the app, so students do not need to share their personal phone number. Abusive users can be blocked.
- Announcements channel: only you can post, and all students read.
- Direct messages: a student can message the library owner directly inside the app, so no personal phone number is needed.
- Push notifications for requests, renewals and alerts.
- Student Group chat for all students of your library, an Admin Group for broadcasts, and direct chats with individual students and past students.
- Recommend a Feature: send feature suggestions to us from inside the app.
10. Library profile and Smart Wi-Fi
- Set logo, cover photo, facilities, rules and terms for students, and allow GPS so students can find your library.
- Smart Wi-Fi: add up to 7 Wi-Fi networks (for example Ground Floor and 1st Floor). Students tap the network name in the Student app to connect, and the password is never shown to them, so you do not need to tell it by voice.
11. Security, backup and account
- Local data in an AES-256 encrypted database. The Android app uses secure key storage and trusts only system certificates.
- Active Devices: see which devices are logged in. Up to 3 at a time.
- Change password and optional 4-digit PIN lock (Android app). After 5 wrong PIN attempts the app locks for 1 minute.
- Data backup: export a full JSON backup. CSV report for your CA or accountant, and PDF reports.
- Works offline and syncs to the cloud when internet returns.
- Delete your account from inside the app: your workspace becomes read-only immediately, you can cancel the request, and data is permanently wiped after 30 days. See the Privacy Policy. No system is completely secure.
12. The free Student app
Students get their own app (full Student feature list):
- Search libraries by name and find nearby libraries. See facilities, prices and free seats.
- Send a seat request, then accept the library rules to enter the dashboard.
- Dashboard: seat number, fee validity, days left, pending fee, present days, absent days, and study hours for today and this month.
- QR check-in and check-out. Study time is tracked automatically between them.
- One-tap library Wi-Fi connect (Android).
- Automatic Silent mode while inside the library (Android, with the student's permission).
- Fee reminders and receipts as notifications. Chat with the library and read announcements.
- Request to free a seat, edit profile and delete account inside the app.
13. Security and trust
9Library is built with layered protection so your library and student data stays private. This is what protects you:
- Every library is separate. Each library can see and change only its own data. This is enforced on our servers, not just in the app, so one library can never open the records of another.
- Server-side checks on every sensitive action. Payments, attendance, sign-in on a new device, backups and account deletion are verified on the server for the signed-in owner before they run.
- System data stays out of reach. Internal system records and keys cannot be accessed from the app or the browser.
- Encrypted on the device. The Android app keeps local data in an AES-256 encrypted database. The key is generated randomly and held in the secure storage of the device.
- Protected connections. Everything runs over HTTPS. The Android app refuses unencrypted connections, accepts only certificates trusted by the system (user-installed certificates are rejected) and keeps its data out of device backups.
- Hardened web app. Strict browser security rules guard against clickjacking, content tampering and unauthorised scripts, and force secure connections.
- Safe device environment. The Android app checks the device environment and does not run on rooted devices.
- Bot and brute-force protection. Cloudflare Turnstile and other bot checks keep automated abuse away. Repeated wrong sign-ins or wrong PIN attempts cause a temporary lockout, and sensitive lookups are rate limited.
- Trusted devices only. Up to 3 signed-in devices per account. You can see them and sign out any device.
- Attendance QR you can trust. Every QR is digitally signed for your library and zone, checked against your own network, verified on the server, and stops working when you delete that zone. A shared photo of the QR is not enough to check in from home.
- Notifications stay in your library. Notifications can only be sent to users you manage.
- Documents stay in your own space. Uploads and deletions are limited to your own library folder and to allowed file types, and automated system events are protected by secret keys.
- No card or banking secrets stored. We never store card numbers, CVV or UPI PIN. Fee entries are saved as complete all-or-nothing records, so they are never left half-saved.
- Monitoring and quick fixes. Crashes and errors are monitored so problems are found and fixed quickly.
- You stay in control. Export your data any time and delete your account from inside the app. Data is permanently removed after the deletion period. We never sell your data.
Pricing
Pre-paid monthly pass, no auto-renewal, and you can pay up to 6 months ahead. Introductory pricing for the basic plan is Rs 399 per month. The final price depends on your seat capacity and may be lower or higher, and it is shown to you before you pay. A free trial may be available for new libraries. You can pay in two ways: open any UPI app from inside the app, or pay yourself and enter the UTR number. When you enter a UTR we verify it before renewing, so renewal is not instant in that case. See Terms and Refund Policy.
Current limitations (honest list)
- The Android app is not on Google Play yet.
- No online payment gateway yet. Students pay the library offline, and the app only records it.
- No physical check-in device yet. Attendance is by QR code scan.
- Not multi-branch yet.
- PIN lock, Wi-Fi scanning for QR setup and GPS capture work only in the Android app, not in the web app.
